UpdateAI – Zoom meeting assistant

A little about me

Paolo_01

Paolo Reyes – Backend Engineer

My name is Paolo and I am from Lima, Peru. I like to cook, try new foods, play tennis, and travel. On that note, two of my favorite places to visit have been the Amazon rainforest and Bariloche, Argentina – I highly recommend both!

When it comes to food, My favorite dish to cook is lomo saltado, which is a traditional Peruvian stir fry, and I’m currently learning how to cook ceviche. Also, 4 years ago, I tried to start a small consulting company with some friends, but it didn’t work out. I was young and made mistakes, but that’s okay because it has led me to where I am now!

Why I joined UpdateAI

I was looking for a new experience. First, I had never worked for a startup before, so that certainly intrigued me, and UpdateAI was appealing for a number of other reasons from a business standpoint.

When I joined, the product was in its beta stage; Looking back now, I feel I joined right in time to help complete an important stage and help make the changes we needed to succeed. Our Founder and CEO Josh Schachter was also instrumental in why I decided to join the team. We really connected over our interviews and I think he is a great person, so I’m thrilled to be working together and bring his vision to fruition.

What I do at UpdateAI

I mostly do backend services for the UpdateAI portal and some other areas. I work with the core service application, restructuring how things work, and trying to improve the code base. Right now, I’m focused on audio, so that users can listen to the audio of their meeting when looking at their recap.

Why I'm so excited about UpdateAI

It’s simple – I truly believe we have a product that’ll help users out in a big way. That excites me.  And from a personal standpoint, I love that I’m empowered to be creative and propose new ideas, because that makes me feel I can add direct value to our mission.

Which core company value I align with the most

I align most with Win or Learn, because we are a startup. Of course, we can win with some of the ideas we have, but we’re not going to be perfect; when we make mistakes, it’s important to learn and grow – we don’t have time to dwell on our mistakes. We learn from our losses, and I love that kind of mindset.
